Janet Byrnes is a Motivational Speaker and Natural Hair Brand Ambassador. Janet has a passion for helping people find their life’s purpose and motivating them into their destiny. We were all born with a purpose in life, and once you can identify yours, you will begin to Natrulee walk in a Phresh way of living. Janet has a B.A degree majoring in Criminal justice and is currently expanding her Master’s degree in law. Janet has over 10 years experience motivating, mentoring and guiding the youth in her community, juveniles and adults incarcerated in prison. Janet also has over 10 years experience developing/ enhancing non- profit organizations such as, Mantua Cares and South Coatesville Life Center Church in Pennsylvania.
Janet has a passion for uplifting women to help them embrace their natural beauty while living a healthy lifestyle. During a pivotal season in Janet’s life she struggled finding her own identity and self worth. As soon as she came across a bible verse it instantly changed her life. “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.” 1 Peter 3:3-4.
Janet is a wife and mother of a daughter named Jaiden who both are brand ambassadors for natural hair. Janet and Jaiden are known for inspiring many people to embrace their natural hair. They have been featured on pages by notable brands such as Curls, Tree Naturals, The Naturalista Hair Show, Ecoco and more. Her journey in life has helped birth the Natrulee Phresh movement to help empower and inspire others to take a PHRESH start at life while NATURALLY living TRUE to themselves.
1. Tell us about your blog Natrulee Phresh?
blog is a fashion & lifestyle blog that was created to motivate and inspire mom’s and all women to naturally be true to themselves.
2. What made you start Natrulee Phresh Blog?
My daughter motivated me to create the blog. When I was pregnant I went through a depression and lost sight of all my dreams and aspirations. After having my daughter, I learned more about myself and accepted who I truly am, I wanted to motivate other women to understand despite being a mom or your circumstance always be comfortable in your own skin and be confident in yourself.
3. What type of topics do you cover?
I cover a range of topics such as, parenting, fashion/ beauty, hair care, motivation, food, health and fitness.
4. What can you offer local Hampton Roads Moms?
I can offer Hampton Roads Mom’s cool inexpensive fashion finds in the area, family friendly places to take their kids, DIY projects, book reviews, local parent meet ups, food reviews, motivation and quick workouts to stay fit.
5. What type of meet-ups does Natrulee Phresh have?
has meet ups to motivate and inspire women in the area to find their life’s purpose and also have mommy meet ups.
6. I know that you are also a motivational speaker, tell me more about that?
Motivational speaking is a passion of mine. I speak to women about the importance of utilizing their gifts and talents for their life purpose. I share my story about how I battled homelessness whileraising my daughter alone. We all have a story and despite where you are in life and the circumstance you may face there are brighter days. This year, I had the pleasure of expanding my speaking engagements to the youth about bullying and motivating them to stay true to themselves.
7. Any tips to help motivate moms?
Yes, it’s very simple and I’m sure you heard it before. You are a Queen, you are doing a great job and keep doing what you’re doing.
8. What advice would you give to a mom who wants to start a business?
Go for it! It’s definitely tough but continue to push through, it will be worth it in the end.
1. You’re a Mom, wife, motivational speaker, run a blog and still have time to do your hair. How do you do it?
Honestly, as funny as it may sound my hair is my toughest battle. My signature hairstyle is called a “wash and go” I just wash and condition my hair, add in some gel and call it a day. As selfish as it may sound, I ensure that I take time out for myself even if it’s doing my hair.
2. As a Mom, who or what inspires you?
My mom inspires me. Growing up I saw all of the sacrifices she made to ensure my sister’s and I had a good education and lifestyle. I appreciate her for that.
3. What’s in your purse?
Bandaids, cough drops, asthma pump, a pen, lipstick, chapstick, hand sanitizer and my wallet.
4. Favorite kid snack you secretly enjoy?
Simply Balanced Fruit snacks from Target.
5. What is your favorite way to relax?
I love Yoga. There’s something about being still in that moment of meditation that makes me feel refreshed.
