Operation Homefront Opens 2018 Military Child of the Year® Award Competition

ABOUT THE SEVEN AWARDS
Six Military Child of the Year® Awards are presented to one outstanding military child from each branch of service — Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and National Guard. The awards recognize the recipients for their:
• Resiliency: Overcoming hardship and otherwise working through challenging circumstances
• Leadership: Modeling leadership in their home, school, and/or community
• Achievement: Exhibiting excellence in activities and daily life

The seventh award is the Military Child of the Year® Award for Innovation Presented by Booz Allen Hamilton. This award goes to a military child who has designed a bold and creative solution to address a local, regional or global challenge.

Selected service branch award recipients and parents or guardians travel to Washington, D.C., April 18-20, 2018; compliments of Operation Homefront. The Innovation Award recipient and his or her parents or guardians travel to the nation’s capital April 17-20, 2018. All award recipients will be special guests of Operation Homefront for the recognition Gala on April 19, 2018. Recipients receive their award, a $10,000 cash prize, and a laptop computer at the Gala. In addition to the cash prize, the Innovation Award recipient will work with a team of Booz Allen Hamilton employees and summer interns as a part of the corporation’s competitive Summer Games. The winner will work with a team of Summer Games interns to develop a plan to scale the award recipient’s project — drawing on technology and strategic thinking.
